A Winnie the Pooh nursery theme is an extremely popular selection for an infant’s nursery. This is especially true because of the main options of nursery themes, Winnie the Pooh is a perfect neutral theme for those parents not finding out beforehand whether they are going to have a boy or a girl. Winnie the Pooh is really a timeless, classic theme that both boys and girls (and parents!) love.
You will find colors of all kinds in the Pooh themed nursery, but generally a neutral yellow is the overall background color. Each of the main characters has a markedly different color, so that will add to the variety and attractiveness of the child’s nursery: Winnie the Pooh is yellow with a red shirt, Piglet is pink with a pinkish shirt, Tigger is orange with black stripes and Eeyore is blue. Sometimes the secondary characters such as Rabbit, Roo, Owl or Christopher Robin are included in a Winnie the Pooh nursery set, but often it’s just the four main characters.
Options Available for a Winnie the Pooh Nursery
The centerpiece of any nursery theme is of course the bedding. You can usually get a Winnie the Pooh nursery bedding set of four or five piece set that includes a sheet, dust ruffle, crib bumper and blanket. These are available in many different options that you can find at your local Babies R’ Us or other baby superstore, or online at many retailers such as Amazon.com.
There are the traditional options, which usually look like old time drawings of Pooh and his friends, with more muted colors, or there are the modern options with brighter colors and larger pictures of the characters. You’ll need to determine from the outset which main theme you want, as all the miscellaneous additions will play off this main choice.
The other lines of Winnie the Pooh nursery products include things such as rugs, wall hangings, window valences, lamps, mobiles, changing table basket liners, hamper and wall border. For my daughter’s nursery, we went with the Pooh theme and we are thrilled with our choice. We have her nursery painted yellow, and we have a light brown crib, so it’s very neutral. We wound up buying the Pooh blanket, rug, wall hanging accessories, changing table liners and hamper. We felt this was enough to make it very clear that the nursery was a Pooh theme, but not so much that it’s seemingly ‘spitting up’ Pooh products. She now absolutely loves Pooh, and taking off and putting on the wall hangings has become an essential part of her bedtime ritual.
Where to Purchase Winnie the Pooh Nursery Products
You have two major options of where to purchase your Pooh nursery items: in a regular store or online. Each have their pluses and minuses, but it basically comes down to this: in a store you’ll be able to see and feel the products, but you’ll be limited in selection to what they have in the store that day and you’ll likely pay more. Online you can find every possible option, and the prices at stores like Amazon.com will be unbeatable (free shipping included), but it’s hard to buy something as important as your son or daughter’s nursery theme without seeing it in person.
